Bright Red Truck by Tim Seston Henry and Mia, Dylan and Maeve were playing all together outside Dylan was counting; the others were searching for special places to hide Henry lay down in a pile of leaves and Maeve crouched behind an old fence But then Mia yelled, "That house is in flames, the fire is very intense." This is an emergency, please somebody go Get the telephone and let the fireman know And in no time at all with a little luck Peter will arrive in his bright red truck. Fiona, Susannah and Graham were having fun playing tag in the park The sun was setting so they had little time before the night would get dark. Susannah was chasing Fiona and Graham around a tall Maple Tree. From up above they heard a small kitten. It was just a scared as can be. This is an emergency, please somebody go Get the telephone and let the fireman know And in no time at all with a little luck Peter will arrive in his bright red truck. Davis, Connor and Will took their bicycles out for an afternoon spin They rode around the neighborhood five or six times before they headed in They finished their ride and Davis was telling a joke to Connor and Will When the boys heard a crash and saw an explosion up on top of the hill. This is an emergency, please somebody go Get the telephone and let the fireman know And in no time at all with a little luck Peter will arrive in his bright red truck. So pack up your troubles and forget your woes Here he is with his ladder and his fire hose With his Smokey his puppy, he will save the day Three cheers for Peter, hip, hip, hooray. |
I wrote this sequel to Peter's Fire Suit for the real Peter's 4th birthday party. His 3rd birthday party had been a big hit and so they had me back the next year. This time they asked if I would include all the names of the children in Peter's class at The Milldam Nursery School. Since I knew them all from music class it was a fun assignment. This song for me is like a photograph of this group of children. |
