Mistakes You Make by Tim Seston G Take a row in a boat D Take a dip in the lake G Take a break for a moment D Just to bake up a cake C There are sweeter things in life Am Than the times you’re thinking about D G All the mistakes that you make G Face the path that you’ve taken D Face the time and the place G Face that moment you slowed D The whole pace of your race C Hold the space that you need Am To get out of the weeds D G Then lead the next time with more grace. C G Your right here in the present C G With you history in the past C Am Draw from the experience and put in your pocket D D7 For the future is approaching fast G Then find some place special D And find someone kind G Go find an activity D That eases your mind C Carve out some time Am So that you can unwind D G And leave all your troubles behind G Hike up a mountain D Or bike down the street G Strike up a conversation D With the people you meet C Bump, set, spike Am Sing a song at the mic D G Do whatever it is that you like. C G Your right here in the present C G With you history in the past C Am Draw from the experience and put in your pocket D D7 For the future is approaching fast G D Take a row in a boat Take a dip in the lake G D Take a break for a moment Just to bake up a cake C There are sweeter things in life Am Than the times you’re thinking about D G All the mistakes that you make D G Because you going to make lots of mistakes |
The rain storm has put a damper on the spirit of many of the campers. There are members of both teams that just want to go home. There are also members of both teams that see opportunity for having fun and setting a more positive tone. As the show starts to wind down the message in "Mistakes You Make" is clear. Camp is a wonderful place for kids to experience minor struggles, small setbacks, and many mistakes. Summer camps are staffed by counselors with boundless energy and a wide range of strategies for helping children navigate their time away from home. It is the daily experiences and all the one on one conversations that help kids grow into the people they want to be. My wife introduced Camp Pok-O-MacCready to me when we were young adults. She had been a counselor there during her college years. We used to go up to Willsboro, NY to see friends and join in reunion festivities. When our children were ready for camp, our second family was all ready to take them in. Our biggest challenge was to work with Camp to help our son Luke navigate the summer program in his motorized wheelchair. It was my chance to be a more integral part of the camp family as well. I love being the Drama director at Camp. |
